Patent It – If You Don’t, Someone Else Will!

Do you have an invention that has been burrowing away in your mind for years? Do you think it could make you real money, but you lack the financial ability to do anything about it at the moment? If you do, you might want to consider applying for a patent.

Whilst it can seem quite expensive to buy a patent for something that is currently only an idea, it can be well worth it in the long run. For every invention, from vacuum cleaners to mobile ringtones, there has always been somebody left kicking themselves because they had thought of it first but were usurped by a company that is now making millions.

Patents are awarded by the government and give an inventor the right to stop others using, selling or manufacturing their idea without permission. This lasts for a limited amount of time, depending on how much is paid. Patents are often described as granting intellectual property meaning that they can be bought, sold or rented to others.

A patent gives you the right to stop others from making your invention, but it does not give you rights above anyone else to have your invention made. Once you have one, you will need to start thinking about ways to manufacture your idea.

The two main types available in the United States are Design and Utility. Utility patents are awarded for the invention or discovery of any new, useful and developable process, article of manufacture, machine or composition of matter.

If you have a new, original and ornamental design for an article of manufacture, in the United States you may be granted a Design patent.

Additionally, Plant patents are available to anyone who discovers and can asexually reproduce a totally new variety of plant.

The rules for awarding these property rights include the fact that your invention must be useful. This means both that it should have a purpose, and that it should be manufactured by normal industrial processes. An invention that cannot be fesibly manufactured could be rejected.

Abstract ideas, including laws of nature and observed or created physical phenomenon, cannot be granted patents. Neither can you be granted property rights over an idea or suggestion it is the actual invention or machine described by you that it patented, not your idea.

Sometimes you have an idea, but do not know it already exists somewhere. If other people in this country have known about or used your idea before you apply, you will not be eligable to have it patented. There are websites where you can check which ideas have already been granted a patent.

Furthermore, if your invention has appeared in a printed publication in any country in the world, for more than a year before your application, you cannot have property rights over it.

For more information, you may wish to look up the Patent and Trademark office of your government, which will highlight the full rules and procedure. Often, when people are sure they are eligable, they choose to hire a patent attorney or agent to help them with applications. Good luck!

Do We Rely Too Much On Electronic Parts?

Just an innocent question and one that I dont have any for sure answers to but one that deserves at least some thought. I am thinking them number one because my lovely brother-in-law has me writing these joyous articles for him as his employee and also because electronic parts are one of the most frustrating parts for me of the technology boom that has happened in the last 100 (but way more quickly in the last 30) years.

What frustrates me so much about electronic parts? Well for one thing I dont understand them and dont have the power therefore to fix them or to at least know what needs to be fixed, what kind of effort it will be, and maybe most importantly how much it should cost to fix it. It is this way with any system that you dont understand and it frustrates me to no end because people who do understand cant be trusted oftentimes and we end up paying for being ignorant.

Electronic parts also have a habit of breaking at the worst times, and the more we rely on them the worse it is when they unreliably quit working properly. They are so unexpected because often they go from working fine to not working at all. There is no way to do preventative maintenance as a result and so you are always blindsided and left stranded especially if it doesnt happen during convenient business hours.

Another aspect of these frustrating little tools we call electronic parts is that they make the products that we buy that contain them very unreliable from one product to the next. What I am referring to I will try to explain by example. You see right now I am trying to make a wise purchase of a PDA phone and am having trouble as I am getting mixed messages over all on the reviews of the different phones. The problem is that people have such different experiences from one phone to the next in the exact same line and model. This I attribute mainly to the unreliability of the electronic components.

So what are we to do? Well maybe technology should be developed that does give us warning before a part actually fails. Some sort of easy to read meter that gives you a chance to get your car in for a change of the electronic parts are failing. This would make all the difference I believe. The other part of it would be to have more regulation over the parts makers so that they would be forced to produce parts more reliably so that you could be more confident when you buy.

Quitting Smoking Made Easy

Smoking cigarettes for a long time can be addictive. This dependence is thanks to nicotine. Nicotine is a habit forming substance found in the leaves of tobacco plants and makes up about four percent of the weight of the plant itself. After processing, the leaves get to retain about seven to twenty milligram of nicotine per stick. And the average smoker takes in one milligram of nicotine per stick. It is this inhaled nicotine that creates the dependency. And the best question to ask is: How can I start quitting smoking?

Love Your Body, Forgive Your “Self”

This may sound a bit odd coming from me, but I believe that regardless of what you eat – how many times each week you exercise or what particular diet you decide to try – if you do not have your inner life in order, it will be difficult to be at peace with yourself and your body.

In discussing ways to love your body, therefore, it is important to look at ways we can have peace with ourselves. Moreover, in this article, we will discuss an idea you may not have considered: forgiveness.

The Past Is The Past, Let It Go:

The most important process we can undertake for our health and well being is to make a conscious effort not to leave negative energy embedded in the past. In effort to move into present time, and be at one with our own body, it becomes essential to let go of all the hurts and struggles that have led us to this moment. There is only one road to this state of oneness, however: The act of letting go.

As it turns out, I’m not the only one who stands by the belief system of releasing the past in effort to improve the health of our minds, as well as our body and spirit. Carolyn Myss in her healing lecture series: Why People Don’t Heal, makes the claim that forgiveness is the #1 way to move forward in health. And she can back it up. She has used the healing process of letting go to transform people from near death to glowing health. With this in mind then, ask yourself: Is there anyone or anything from my past which prevents me from moving forward? Said differently: is there something in your past that’s holding you back?

Learn To Forgive Others, The Process:

This brings us to the next step in our progress of releasing the past: learning to forgive others. Keep in mind, most often others say and do things as a result of how they are feeling about themselves. In most cases, whether they are aware of it or not, unhealthy individuals inflict their wounds upon us to salve their own pain. This can no longer affect us if we make a full effort to do as Don Miguel Ruiz says in his book The Four Agreements, and “not take things personally.” When we do take things personally, we really could gather up a lifetime of emotional baggage.

As it pertains to body image and self-esteem, however, is there anyone you need to forgive? Has someone knowingly or unknowingly inflicted a negative body view onto you? Here’s my personal example: When I was in high school, I had a “friend” who was popular, pretty and blonde. As an introvert and troubled youth, I took everything most personally. Imagine my emotional baggage when any time I would so much as mention my interest in a particular boy, she’d make sure she would go out of her way to get his interest.

Needless to say our friendship wasn’t long term. And later I learned she was living in an unstable home. Yet, when I was younger, her actions just plain hurt my feelings and gave me a negative self image. Now I realize my insecurities at the time were my wounds to heal, and once I’d forgiven her and not taken her actions personally, I could move forward without holding on to past insecurity.

Learn To Live In the Present, An Exercise:

When we can learn to let go of the past and live fully in the present, we are also growing. After all, how could we grow if we have negative energy lodged in the past? Moreover, there are many other active ways to learn to live in the present. Begin the process by taking a current inventory of your body. I like to do this by using my journal (you do have a journal, don’t you?)

Here’s how it works:

Take a scan of your body. First take body part by body part and make a note of what you are happy about. Ask yourself: What do I love about me? At first this may seem awkward, but I cannot stress the importance of taking time to spend time with your self and learning to know “you.”

After you’ve noted all the positive aspects of your self, make note of those parts you’d like to change. Keep in mind your boundaries – are these changes within your control? If so, make notes to yourself as to how you may go about making a change for the better. If changes are out of your control – take time every day to consciously send love to those parts of your body. When ever possible, tell your mind that you accept your body and your self for who you are, right now.

When you’ve finished, take a look at your list. What can you do right now that would make you love a part of yourself? Consider this your permission slip: Today take time to do something good for yourself. Better yet, walk to the phone right now and make an appointment to do something for your self. My favorite self-love activities? Here’s a couple suggestions. Ladies: A manicure or pedicure? Gentlemen: A massage?

Today, take time to focus on all of your positive qualities. Make an effort to forgive the past and move into the present moment. Prepare to grow!

Journal Entries:

Make note: What do I love about myself?
What can I do for myself this week that is “just for me”?

Chronic Fatigue — The Facts You Should Know

There is significant concern about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also known as CFS. In fact, there are criteria patients must meet in order to be diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Receiving the diagnosis may be difficult for some patients because the guidelines for diagnosing are very specific. The fatigue must have been present at least six consecutive months and the corresponding symptoms must have developed after the fatigue. A clear definition of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, its symptoms, and treatment options will help sufferers get a clearer understanding of the syndrome.

What is Chronic Fatigue?
The basic definition of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome does not make sufferers feel much better. The syndrome is unexplained and is marked by weakness, fatigue, muscle pain, lethargy, trouble sleeping, and even fever and swollen lymph nodes. There is no known cause for the fatigue that is present in an individual that has no relation to over-exertion and is not rectified by rest.

Symptoms
Some of the symptoms associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have been discussed. However, there is a very long list. There are a variety of symptoms that patients are very aware of and then there are other symptoms only doctors seem to notice. Regardless, when the symptoms are present for a period of time for no apparent cause and seem to have no remedy then Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a frequent diagnosis.

Some of the frequent symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome include:

- Muscle Aches
- Persistent Fatigue
- Intermittent Fatigue
- Depression
- Tiredness
- Headache
- Swollen Lymph nodes
- Depression
- Memory Loss
- Weakness
- Difficulty Concentrating
- Achy Joints

Frequently Chronic Fatigue Syndrome begins during periods when individuals have been sick, under a tremendous amount of stress, or for no apparent reason at all. Many individuals have noted that after bouts with the flu, mono, a cold, bronchitis, hepatitis, and other similar illnesses CFS arises. Unfortunately, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome persists for months, sometimes coming and going and other times constantly affecting the patient. Other illnesses begin to clear up after a few days or weeks, but Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sticks around with no clear cause.

Diagnosing Chronic Fatigue
Doctors find it very difficult to diagnose Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The reason why is because so many of its symptoms are symptoms of other illnesses. This is why many doctors like to see patients with the same symptoms that began after the fatigue for at least six months before giving a diagnosis. Obviously, sufferers of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome find the lack of an early diagnosis difficult to bear on top of their symptoms. However, doctors like to rule out diseases like Lupus and Multiple Sclerosis, as well as other diseases, before diagnosing Chronic Fatigue.

Additionally, researchers and doctors are becoming more aware of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and are more likely to make an earlier diagnosis based on fewer symptoms than ever before. That is not to say that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is easy to diagnose, because it is not. However increased awareness and new definitions are helping doctors and patients of Chronic Fatigue each and every day.

Treatment Options
The treatment options for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are varied and include alternative as well as prescription alternatives.

Some of the alternative care management options for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome include avoiding stress and undertaking light exercise. Other treatment options that work for some individuals include massage, aquatic therapy, chiropractic therapy, yoga, self hypnosis, tai chi, and even acupuncture. Psychotherapy has also proven helpful to sufferers of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome because it helps sufferers learn to cope with their symptoms.

Prescription treatment options for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have not been approved by the FDA. There are however other prescription medications that are used to treat the symptoms presented with Chronic Fatigue. Frequently, the primary use of the medicine is secondary and its side effects are what benefit Chronic Fatigue sufferers. Medicines like antifungals, antidepressants, antivirals, cardiac drugs, antihistamines, immunoglobulins, corticoids, anti-inflammatories, and anti-convulsants among others are frequently prescribed to CFS sufferers.

Do You Have CFS?

If you are worried you have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or have some of the above stated symptoms for months on end then you should make an appointment with your physician. It is a good idea to keep a journal of your symptoms, when they began, and if new ones appear. This will help your doctor make the proper diagnosis and help receive some relief from your symptoms sooner.

Houston Astros vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

PNC Park

The Houston Astros got back on track Friday night behind an unlikely standout and the return of an old one. Adam Everett hit a two-out, three-run double in the eighth inning and closer Brad Lidge retired three straight in the ninth to get the save in the Houston Astros’ 5-3 victory over the Texas Rangers.

It was about time for the Houston Astros to get a victory. It was a much needed one because after the sweep they suffered at home the players werent that motivated. With the victory at least the Astros got a little boost in their morale to continue fighting for that first place in their division.

“I was just trying to prolong the inning and get the next guy up there,” said Everett, who bats eighth. “It’s one of those at-bats that I’ll always remember because it was my first game-winning hit. That’s pretty exciting.”

Oswalt pitched 6 strong innings allowing a season high 11 hits, but with all that he did a pretty good job and got the victory fro m the Rangers.

Lineup

1. Willy Taveras, CF. 2.Craig Biggio, 2nd B. 3. Lance Berkman, RF. 4.Morgan Ensberg, 3rd B. 5. Mike Lamb, 1st B. 6. Brad Ausmus, C. 7.Preston Wilson, LF. 8. Adam Everett, SS. 9.Roy Oswalt, P.

Meanwhile the Pittsburgh Pirates suffered a loss against a very focus and talented Indians team lead by C.C Sabathia. The Pirates went down 4-1 on Friday night. The way (Sabathia) was throwing, it felt like we were down by 10,” said Pirates left fielder Jason Bay, who went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and had a 10-game hitting streak stopped.

Zach Duke pitched 7 innings for the Pirates; he got 4 hits, 3 runs and 3 errors that cost them a lot. Duke allowed only one hit over his final six innings but lost his third consecutive start. He issued two walks in both the fourth and fifth innings but escaped those jams in his first career start against an AL team. The left-hander walked six and struck out six over seven innings.

“I made bad pitches in the first inning, but I was very happy with the way I pitched after that,” Duke said.

This week the Pirates match-up against the Astros and they have the opportunity to add some victories that will do a lot of good to this team thats struggling in NL Central. So if you like a sport betting this is a good opportunity to bet in what many expect to be a very exciting game.

Lineup

1. Jose Bautista, CF. 2.Jack Wilson, SS. 3.Freddy Sanchez, 3rd B. 4. Jason Bay, LF. 5. Craig Wilson, 1st B. 6. Ryan Doumit, DH. 7. Jeromy Burnitz, RF. 8.Ronny Paulino, C. 9.Jose Castillo, 2nd B.

Why Radio Won’t Play Indie Music

One Reason Why Radio Won’t Play Indie Music
And What You Can Do About It

by Jeronimo Black

As I clicked on a popular music business forum, I was greeted with a question. “Why won’t commercial radio play music by Indie Artists?”

My reply to this person was as follows:

“As a former Operations Manager and Music Director on both the Comm and Non-Comm sides, Let me break the reason down for you.

Commercial Radio needs ratings to get paid from advertisers. Most advertiser’s, on radio, are ad agencies. Ad agencies base their “buys” (sponsorships) on a Cost per point (“CPP”) basis. CPP is based on how many thousands of listeners a radio station can capture in a 15 minute period (or cume).

Many commercial radio [Program and Music] don’t want to put thier ratings at risk, by airing an ‘untested song’ on the air. So what these commercial radio directors do, is, air music based on the national charts provided by Radio and Records, Broadcast Data Systems (BDS) and Billboard.

These charts are mainly influenced by the major labels via promotions and strategic alliances.

Your best best is to do like Knarles Barkley. Knarles Barkleys’ single “Crazy” went #1 on the internet and radio couldn’t help but to get them the single on the air.

Get your music on music submission sites, make some noise on the net, and get a CDBaby.com account so you can get your music on iTunes and start promoting.”

I suggested this because the music business is going digital. Clear Channel has a partnership with GarageBand.com where they will feature a certain amount of new artists every week in on their website. Since Clear Channel is the biggest and most innovative broadcaster in the music business, it’s just a matter of time before the other cowardly copy-cat broadcasters will follow suit.

The world is going digital, while radio continutes to operate using an analog business model. You can be successful in the music business if you change your marketing model from analog to digital.

Buying Slippers Online Can Be Risky

These are strange new times. No longer do we need to actually send mail, get cash, pay bills with a check, or worry about getting lost thanks to recent advances in technology. In most cases, we need not even go to the store in order to buy the things we need. But when it comes to things like slippers, how does a person have any idea that they will get what they were looking for?

One of the biggest risks involved with online shopping is that you dont get to actually see or touch what you are buying. Oh sure, you can look at the nice new slippers on the computer screen. Maybe they will put them on someones feet so you can get some perspective on their size and make sure people arent trying to sell you a pair of slippers that wouldnt even fit a small child, let alone you. But at the end of the day, do you really know how those slippers will feel on your feet or if they will even really fit.

After all, not all companies size slippers, shoes, or even clothes in the same manner. What is a medium to one company might very well be a large to another. So, who is to say that the slippers will fit even though they are supposedly in your size? This is why you need to be sure and check out the return policy of any company before even browsing through their fabulous selection of slippers. If they dont allow returns, move on to a company that does.

Companies need to be reasonable and expect some mistakes on both sides where sizing is concerned. A reasonable return policy that allows people to return merchandise that has been tried on but found to be unsuitable or just plain not what the person thought it would be when buying it originally. Be sure to find out who is responsible for shipping costs in the event of a return. Most companies will have a reasonable time limit attached to their return policy so be sure not to decide and return those slippers six months after you decide that you dont want them!

Shipping costs should also be investigated before even shopping for your slippers. A good many companies will offer free shipping for purchases reaching or exceeding a minimum amount. Still, some retailers may try to mask high prices by selling slippers at seemingly low prices but charging high shipping costs. Understand the shipping policy and what it will add to the price of the slippers you are looking at so that you know the true price of the slippers before adding something to your virtual cart. By looking before you leap, you can still find a great pair of slippers at bargain prices by shopping online.

Three Keys To Fabric Selection

There is so much variety available in fabric shops, on-line, and in mail-order catalogs that it’s almost difficult to choose. Often, I end up buying fabric whether I need it right now or not. After all, a quilter must always have fabric on hand.

The “magic” comes when you find a fabric that you fall in love with. Finding a suitable fabric usually isn’t difficult for a project you’re working on. Settling on just one fabric is the hard part.

Here are some criteria to keep in mind when making fabric selections: colorfast quality; fiber content; surface design. If you stick to some guidelines about these criteria, then you’re sure to be pleased with the final result of your project.

Surface Design:

The printed or woven surface design and, of course, the color, is very important.

1) Try to pick fabrics with the same color value so one doesn’t stand out in the finished quilt.

2)Check to see if there is a one-way direction in the design; you may need to purchase extra fabric to allow for cutting fabrics with plaids or stripes.

3) The size of the design and the background spaces are also important considerations. Are the designs large, medium, or small? Is the background area prominent? How will this particular fabric look when cut it into small quilt pieces? If the design is too widely spaced, it may be lost in the cutting of the fabric.

Take a few minutes to analyze fabric and keep these questions in mind when purchasing fabric. It is far better to have left over fabric than be working on a project and run out of material. I’ve run out before only to find that the fabric is no longer in stock.

Colorfast Quality:

Avoid fabrics that fade. Pigment-dyed fabric resists light 40 hours. Wet-printed resists light 20 hours. The best thing to avoid having your quilt fade is to keep it out of direct sunlight.

Fiber Content:

The fiber content is especially important when purchasing fabric for quilts. The way fabric responds to manipulation is determined by the fiber content. The standard 100% cotton fabric sold for quilting is easy to work with and this is the best choice.

Cotton blends are harder to work with; they tend to shift while cutting or sewing them. 100% cotton is strong when wet, absorbs moisture, creases easily, irons nicely at high temperatures and wears well.

Beware of Discount Fabric:

For a good finished product, quilters need to purchase good-quality, colorfast cotton fabric from a reputable supplier. I’ve bought fabric from discount stores because I liked the print. Then I had trouble manipulating the material; it would shift and bunch as I sewed it.

The finished product usually reflected the problems I encountered while sewing. No matter how much money I saved on material, my time was wasted by producing a less than satisfactory quilt.

In order to be happy with your finished product, I recommend that you buy what appeals to you as long as it is good-quality, colorfast cotton fabric that is treated with finishes to control shrinkage, resist soil, and resist wrinkling.

On Matters of Sleep and the Body

The human body is often cited to be a complex machine, with several subsections that are working in conjunction with one another. As such, it can be seen that there is some truth to the traditional Chinese medicine concept of treating overall balance, rather than individual symptoms. Since all the systems are inevitably interconnected, then what affects one aspect of a person’s physical or mental health can also have an effect other aspects. While everyone and their grandmother knows that disrupting one’s sleep patterns or a lack of sleep can have an effect on the body, new research is revealing that there may be more side effects than conventional knowledge is aware of.

Planning a Camping Trip Properly is Essential For a Memorable and Safe Camping Experience

Want to know a fun and inexpensive activity for all ages? Then try camping! Why not plan a camping trip today? Camping trips can be enjoyed by hikers, fishing partners, couples, large groups, small groups, and families. But whether the camping trip involves two or twenty people, planning is essential to make the camping event a truly memorable one.

Plan Ahead

First off, start planning your camping trip early. Things you need to decide on ahead of time are:

- What camping activities are important to you and your party? This will help determine where you want to go.

- Do you want to fish and swim while you are there?

- If swimming is important do you require a swimming pool or is fresh lake water fine?

- What about running water and showers?

- Do you need electricity?

- What about picnic grounds, or picnic shelters?

- What about parking areas?

- Also what about playgrounds or tennis courts or golf courses or other such facilities?

The Camp Site

The answers to the above questions will help in determining where you want to go. This leads us to another important consideration in planning your camping trip: the actual campsite itself. What distance from the campground itself are the various amenities, such as swimming pools, showers, lakes, playgrounds, picnic areas, and such? Determining the answer to this question, and how important each is, will greatly affect how much fun your camping trip is. On one hand, their closeness will greatly add to your convenience; but on the other hand, their closeness will also mean increased foot traffic from other campers as well as more noise in general. How much this matters will depend on you and the people going along with you on the camping trip. Also, how much this matters will depend on what you are wanting from your camping experience. Are you wanting to get away from it all, or are you wanting to be centrally located to all activities? Being near a playground would be a good thing if you’re bringing children along, but if you’re a retired person the noise might not be appreciated.

Bring Plenty of Clothes

Another consideration is the clothes that you pack for your camping trip. Consider what the weather will be like in the area where you are going camping. Also, you need to plan clothing for all times of the day – morning, noon, and night. Plus you will need to consider the activities you plan on doing during your camping trip, and make sure that you have the appropriate clothing for each activity. Keeping dry and staying warm will be important. Depending on the time of year, dress in several layers. You can begin with a tank top, then a t-shirt followed by flannel shirt, a jacket and finally if needed – a heavier jacket. Then as the day changes, you can shed layers to accommodate the changing weather.

The Quality of Your Sleeping Bag

Very important will be sleeping bag quality. One of the main ingredients to a successful camping trip is sleeping well at night. Therefore it is essential to have a good quality sleeping bag. Even summertime can bring cool temperatures at night depending on the area you will be camping in. Also, unexpected weather should be planned for as well. Getting caught out camping on a cold night without adequate protection could be the dangerous for you as well as the fun of your camping trip. Including a simple, thin foam mattress can make your sleep time much more comfortable. Bringing an air mattress would be even better. If you bring an air mattress, include inflating the air mattress into your camping preparations.

Flashlights

Adequate lighting is a must for camping trips. This would include flashlights or battery-powered lamps. And it is always a good idea to have extra batteries and extra flashlights on hand just in case you need them. A battery-powered radio can also be pleasant as well as very useful to have on hand. In addition to music, you can stay on top of the weather forecasts as well; and be prepared for any unexpected weather coming your way.

Food, Food, and Food

Now we come to one of the main and very important essentials for planning a successful camping trip, and that is – take plenty of food! Keep in mind what food preparation options you will or won’t have. Then plan what kinds of food you want to take. Also, when planning the food for your camping trip, you will want to consider the food likes and dislikes of the various campers that will be going along. The camping trip wouldn’t be much fun for anyone if one camper is left hungry. Take plenty of easy snacks and quick to fix meals. One-dish stews are always a camping hit, plus other favorites are: hotdogs, marshmallows, fresh fruits, vegetables, chips, cookies, crackers, nuts, beef jerky, high-energy food bars, dry cereal, and granola bars. Careful and thoughtful food planning will be key to the success of your camping trip.

Don’t forget the Kids

If kids will be coming along you’ll definitely want to plan ahead. Buy each of them some supplies so that they can create a camping journal. They may also create camping creatures by using small rocks and twigs to create small camping critters and let the kids keep them as camping souvenirs.

Explore the Outdoors

If you want to explore nature, then you will want to prepare for this too. Bring binoculars for bird or wildlife watching, and a camera to take pictures of any wildlife you might come across. Also consider bringing a wildlife and/or vegetation identification guide. This can add a very enjoyable experience to your camping trip. And this is an activity that would be good for all ages of campers too. If you take binoculars along, you will want to consider if you will need more than one pair or not. And if you take a camera along, make sure and include ample supplies for the camera such as: film, batteries, camera case, or memory cards.

So to ensure a highly successful and very enjoyable camping experience for all who go along, proper planning of your camping trip is essential. Your camping experience will go much smoother and be much more enjoyable if the proper planning is done ahead of time. So sit down beforehand and decide what you want to get out of your camping trip, then take the needed planning steps to make your camping experience a successful and memorable one.

Does Green Tea taste like grass?

According to Chinese legend, green tea was invented by an emperor who was out in the forest, and had just boiled a kettle of water on his campfire. Suddenly, a freak gust of wind put out his fire and blew leaves from a nearby tree into the emperors hot water. When he came back, the emperor was upset, but still decided to drink the water only to find that it now tasted excellent. Realising what had happened, he took some of the leaves from the tree home with him, and so invented tea.

Whether thats true or not, there is no doubting that tea has a long and noble history in China and many other Asian countries, and most of the tea they consume has long been either white or green tea. It is known to have been consumed as long ago as the 9th century in Japan, and has long been a social drink and a status symbol, as well as a drink that is considered to have a wide variety of health benefits.

The difference between green tea and Western black tea isnt that they are different plants they are both made from camellia sinesis, the tea plant but that the leaves are treated differently after they are picked. Black tea is first dried out and then fermented so that it will last longer, while green teas treatment stops after the drying stage, while the green colour of the leaves is still present. While this means that green tea doesnt stay fresh for very long, it also means that it has a much fresher taste than black tea, and many believe that it is much better for you.

The first time you taste green tea you will probably think that it somehow tastes green, or grass-like, but it is hard to describe. The best way to figure out whether youll like it or not is to just give it a go.

With over 1 million residents, Peel Region is the second largest Administrative Region in Ontario. Conveniently located with Halton Region to the West and York and Toronto to the East, the Region has experienced fast growth in both residential and commercial developments. Peel Region was incorporated into the organisation it is today when the old County of Peel had its municipalities reformed into the 2 cities of Brampton (central region) and Mississauga (largest city south of the region) and the Town of Caledon (north of the region).

As with all of Ontario, Peel Region has an extensive heritage. Starting with the native peoples and then the settlement by the westerners in the 16/17 hundreds. The Peel Heritage Complex has been constructed to provide ample coverage of this.

The Regional education programs are administered by 3 school boards – The Peel District School Board for the public, English based students. The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board for Catholic denomination students and The Conseil Scolaire de District du Centre Sud-Ouest which is for the French students.

The Region also has its own administration for Healthcare which follows the Provincial system. As with the rest of the GTA, transportation links are the best in Canada with Highways, Railroads and the country’s largest airport – the Lester Pearson International.

The Municipalities

The City of Mississauga is Canada’s sixth largest city, with a Population of at least 680,000 is still growing rapidly and is named after a band of the Ojibwa First Nation. Many new businesses are being attracted by competitive tax rates with exceptional services, infrastructure and transportation links. Staying on the aquatic scene – the Wild Water Kingdom is Canada’s largest water park and attracts millions of visitors each year. The Peel Heritage Complex is in the city and the new Performing Arts Centre will be opening in 2005. Gage Park was the first municipal park and is still open to the public today with concerts, wading pool for the kids which becomes an ice arena in the winter.

The schools and healthcare are administered by the Peel Region.Government with one major hospital in the city. Housing costs are rising at around 10% per year with the 2003 average for a detached home at around $295,000. The average household income was $75,000. The city is known for being a safe place to live with low average crime rates and is policed by the Peel Region Police Force. Overall, the city offers an excellent standard of living to its residents and is set to continue as one of Canada’s fastest growing cities.

The Town Of Caledon is a smaller, fairly rural community in the Northern section of the Peel Region. Again, its a very fast growing community with an increase in population of over 26% between 1996 and 2001 to around 50,000. The Town is made up of several smaller communities with Bolton being the larger. The others are Caledon East, Mayfield West, Cheltenham, Alton, Inglewood and Caledon itself.

Most employment is in the Manufacturing, Retail and Business services sectors with a low unemployment rate of only 3.3%.

Like the rest of the Peel Region, Caledon has excellent transportation links with close proximity to Pearson International airport and the independent airport at Brampton.

Detox Diets The Next Diet Fad

If you have been on the diet front lately, you have probably heard of detox diets. Basically, detox diets are the next big player in the fad diet game. Like Atkins, Southbeach, even the cabbage diet, different detox diets are popping up all over the internet and in bookstores. What exactly are detox diets, do they work, and are detox diets safe?

The premise behind detox diets is that your body is full of toxins, many of which come from the foods you eat. A basic detox diet will have you fast for a certain period of time, which means you will not eat at all. You will then only eat specific foods that are believed to be toxin free, completely refraining from other foods, such as sugar, red meat, wheat, and eggs. Most detox diets also call for a cleansing process during which colonics, or enemas, are used or herbal colon cleansers.

It is important to understand that detox diets are not really designed for weight loss; instead they are to cleanse your body of harmful toxins. The goal should not be to lose weight. Secondly, there is a great deal of controversy over these diets and whether they are safe.

For the most part, the diets are meant to be relatively short term, or at least the most stringent part is. You will only be required to fast and undergo body cleansing for a few days. Anything longer will definitely cause health problems. Fasting for any length of time will cause nutritional deficiencies, fatigue, dehydration, and possibly eating disorders. Likewise, the colon cleansers that are used to rid the body of waste are basically laxatives that can also cause dehydration and nutritional deficiencies if used in excess. So it would seem that you are doing something very dangerous, but because you only do it for a short time, they try to pick out the potential beneficial aspects of it.

While healthy people may be able to go on a detox diet, not have any complications, and potentially even benefit from it, a person that is not at their best should see a doctor before taking part in it. Likewise, children and teenagers should not go on a detox diet because their bodies still need a certain number of calories and fat grams to maintain healthy growth and optimal development. If there is any question, see you doctor before starting any diet plan.

Online Private Investigation

Private investigation has a lot of imagery and clichs attached to it. There is the “lone wolf” investigator who, for one reason or the other is unattached to the government. There is the trusty sidekick/chronicler who manages to either accidentally make discoveries which are crucial to the case or get himself into a situation where he needs rescuing. There is also the scene where the hapless client (often a beautiful blonde) goes to the office of the private investigator to seek his help. However, this last scene is slowly becoming obsolete simply because of the advent of online private investigation

Does Your Website Need Some CAPTCHA?

Many Business website owners have faced this problem: They want to provide a function on their site for visitors to send feedback to them without opening the floodgates to spammers.

Posting your email address on your website is generally an invitation for spam. Automated programs better known as bots will eventually scan your website and parse out your email address from the rest of the source code and use it for purposes other than what you intended.

There are various tricks and techniques to cloak your email address so that these bots do not easily find it. One method Ive used is to include Javascript in my webpage that pieces together the email address when the page is displayed to the user. With this method there is not a valid email address in the page source itself. It seems to work fairly well, but some junk mail does still make it thru.

Another technique is to not post your email address at all on your website, but rather provide a Feedback or Guestbook type form where visitors can enter comments and then submit using the website form. This keeps the email address off the website completely by making use of a server side script which is activated when the visitor submits the form. Generally this script then formats an email message and sends it to the website owner using an email program on the server itself. The actual email address is encoded in the script or a database and is not available to outside visitors.

These feedback type forms help, but it is still possible to automate the entry of these forms, with the resulting spam being received. It does raise the bar, so to speak, in making it more difficult to automate but not impossible.

A better option to use along with these website forms is CAPTCHA. Youve probably seen this in use on large websites with user signup pages. Before submitting the form, the user is required to read some distorted letters on the screen and enter them as verification. The idea is that the distorted letters or characters cannot be interpreted by computer programs so that the web form being submitted is automatically validated as originating from a human being rather than some automated program.

CAPTCHA is actually an acronym for “Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”. The term is trademarked by Carnegie Mellon University and was started in 2000, so its not been around too long. In reality a CAPTCHA is a program that can generate and grade different kinds of tests that most humans can pass, but computer programs can not pass. The most common one known is the distorted letters and numbers test. A CAPTCHA must be fully automated without any user intervention, which makes it a reasonable option for website owners.

Adding a CAPTCHA program to your site helps provide a reliable method to validate that the information being submitted is from a real, live human and not from some automated program. The use of CAPTCHA is becoming more widespread and is not just on the major websites any longer. A lot of site integration examples can be found in the common website programming languages.

Some good resources to get started with CAPTCHA can be found at:
